Peril

A peril is defined as a serious and immediate danger. In the insurance industry, a peril would be the cause of a loss, such as wind, hail, fire, hurricane, vandalism, etc. If a peril is not covered by the policy, the insurance carrier will pay the claim. Another way to think of peril is "what type of damage?" or "what happened to this property?"
